With five kids, we sometimes deal with a bit of sickness while traveling. During our most recent travel expedition one of the kids fell under the weather. Before doTERRA and essential oils this would have made the trip more stressful. After many kids and a lot of traveling, I have learned to be prepared with what we need to support the body.
No matter where we are traveling to I always make sure to take vitamins for the whole family and essential oils. Through the years I have been able to narrow down which oils are essential to my family, but this might look different for your family.
When my daughter started feeling under the weather during our trip, I first made sure she was taking all her vitamins and getting plenty of rest. Then we started doing some detox baths (I can tell you more about those in another post.) My secret weapon though is using the Symphony of the Cells applications technique.
Symphony of the Cells is one of my favorite ways to use essential oils on my family. Symphony of the Cells is a holistic approach to wellness using several different tailored essential oil applications to target specific body systems and related bodily concerns. With over 29 years of experience in the health and wellness industry and extensive, firsthand use of therapeutic-grade essential oils, Boyd Truman created the different Symphony of the Cells protocols. The technique used in this method involves layering essential oils on parts of the body where a high volume of nerve endings is found: the back and bottoms of the feet. There are several different protocols including ones for emotional support. Symphony of the Cells makes it easy for anyone to conduct this technique on themselves and others.
The protocol I want to tell you about in this article is the Infectious Disease Protocol, I like to use this anytime anyone in my family starts showing signs of suboptimal health.
Infectious Disease Protocol
Step 1: Apply a few drops of Frankincense to the spine of bottoms of the feet. I start at the base of the spine and massage it in as I move my hands up the spine and stop at the neck. Once finished I have my family members breathe in the oil that is on my hand and then rub the excess oil on their feet.
Step 2: Using a carrier oil (I use the sensitive skin carrier oil from doTERRA) mix in 1-2 drop of Oregano for kids; for adults you could get away with more. Rub the oil up the spine until you reach the base of the neck and follow the end steps from Step 1.
Step 3: Follow the same steps from Step 1 and 2 using Thyme Essential Oil.
Apply the next series of oils one at a time in the same method as above.
Step 4: On Guard
Step 5: AromaTouch
Step 6: Lemongrass
Step 7: Tea Tree
Step 8: Melissa
Step 9: Arborvitae
Step 10: Peppermint
In this protocol, Boyd Truman, also suggests taking 3 of the oils internally. All of the oils listed above, except for AromaTouch, are safe for internal use. If you are ever wondering which doTERRA Essential Oils can be used internally, check the back of the bottle for supplemental facts. If there are supplemental facts on the back of the bottle than the oil is safe to use internally. This only applies to doTERRA Essential Oils though.
Choose 2 or 3 of the oils to take internally, I recommend putting the oils in a veggie capsule to take, especially for kids. What I normally do though is keep the On Guard+ softgels on hand both at home and when we are traveling. The On Guard+ Softgels contain On Guard Essential Oil which is doTERRA’s Protective Blend, but for added immune support these softgels also contain Black Pepper, Oregano, and Melissa. These softgels contain the necessary essential oils to support the immune system and to protect against environmental threats.
