Homesteading, world-schooling, traveling, and essential oils

Hi, I'm Carly

I am a SoCal Native turned wanna be homesteader in central Oregon, with five children, 2 dogs, some chickens, and a lot of cats. My husband and I have been married for 17 years. We both work from home, and I’ve been running my own holistic health and wellness business for almost 10 years.

Homesteading
It was a huge dream of ours to own land where our kids could run and play. We moved from SoCal to central Oregon five years ago. Originally, we had plans to turn our land into a full-blown homestead – we aren’t there yet, but I still have plans for that. In the future I can see us growing all our own food. Right now, we just have chickens, with plans of getting some meat animals in the future, but for now that will have to wait because of our travel plans this year. Coming from a beach town the learning curve to managing our own property has been huge and a little bit painful if I am being honest. We love our community here in Oregon though.

World-Schooling and Traveling
Did I mention my kids are also homeschooled? It’s all they have ever known, and we love the freedom of it. Freedom is a huge a theme in my life. I enjoy running my own business because it provides me the freedom to choose when and where I work. Homeschooling offers us the freedom to choose when and where our kids do school, which spoiler alert is about to get a whole lot more interesting.

I recently became interested in the idea of World-Schooling. World-Schooling is the concept that children can receive no greater education than by experiencing and interacting with the world around them. My husband and I believe in a holistic approach to learning and prefer our children to learn through experience. We also upgraded our RV from a Class C to a Class A and our family is ready for adventure. We’ve always been avid travelers, but we plan to push our boundaries this year and may even adventure outside of the United States; you’ll have to stick around to find out where we are planning to go. I will also be sharing some of the remodel of the RV in the future, so make sure you check back for that.

Favorite Way to Spend the Morning as a Homeschooling Mama
I love slow mornings with my kids. I usually kick off my mornings with some bulletproof coffee (with a drop of Cardamom essential oil) and while sipping my coffee I spend some time with my Bible. Once I am done with my Bible time, the kids and I curl up on the couch and I read to them. Normally we start off with reading from our Bibles, but we also really enjoy the YWAM books on missionaries and the Who Was books (we are currently reading about Queen Victoria).

doTERRA
When I first started with doTERRA 10 years ago, I just wanted to be able to take care of my family. doTERRA throughout the years has given me so much empowerment as a mother and a business owner. I started when my oldest child was 7 and my youngest child had not even been born yet. The first feeling doTERRA gave me, was the feeling that I could take care of my kids without having to load them all up into the car for a doctor visit each time one of them got a little under the weather.

As a trained health coach, sticking to natural, holistic health care is super important to me. As I mentioned earlier freedom is super important to our family and doTERRA has provided us with so much freedom; freedom to move and live where we want, freedom to travel, freedom to spend as much time as possible with our kids, medical freedom, and financial freedom. Our lives would look completely different without doTERRA. Our home is full of doTERRA products, we use them in every part of our home - it’s all my kids know.
