Roughly 70% of the body’s immune system lives in the digestive tract. Your overall health is dependent on maintaining a healthy gut. It is a common misconception that the only purpose of the digestive tract is to provide nutrients to the body and remove waste. Those are important roles for the digestive tract, but it is responsible for so many other parts of the body.
I just finished a month of doing an elimination diet to figure out what I am eating that is bothering my stomach. I eliminated things like dairy, soy, gluten, corn, coffee, protein powder, and most red meat. The thought process is to take these things out for a month and then slowly add each one back to your diet, one at a time. This helps you determine what your digestive tract is sensitive to. While this can be a great place to start when it comes to healing your gut, I wanted to discuss which doTERRA products we have that can help with digestive health as well. doTERRA understand the importance of digestive health and have many products to help optimize gut health and keep your digestive tract working effectively. The products I will be talking about are all products that we use regularly within our family.
DigestTab
These are chewable tablets for soothing, digestive relief. These tablets contain DigestZen, which is one of doTERRA’s most popular blends due to its ability to aid in the digestive process and soothe the occasional upset stomach. DigestTabs also contain calcium carbonate to help reduce burning sensations due to its acid-neutralizing effects. These tablets are great for acid reflux or upset stomachs and can be used by children and adults.
DigestZen
Is proprietary essential oil blend created by doTERRA to aid in food digestion, soothe occasional upset stomachs, and reduce uncomfortable gas when used internally. This oil can be used topically, aromatically, and internally. As a reminder any doTERRA essential oil that has supplemental facts on the bottle can be used internally.
I like to use this in the car for kids with motion sickness, I will either hand them the open bottle and allow them to inhale the aroma from the bottle or I will place a few drops in their hands for them to cup over their faces and inhale. While this can be used in the diffuser, I don’t tend to use this oil in that way. Whenever someone in our family is suffering from stomach aches, we will use this topically by applying a few drops to the stomach and rubbing it in. You can also use this topically by putting a drop in the belly button or putting a few drops on the bottom of your feet.
Digestzen also comes in a roller bottle form that is pre-diluted, it is called DigestZen Touch. This is great to easily roll on your stomach or the bottoms of your feet. I keep a bottle of the DigestZen Touch in my bathroom for this purpose. This is honestly one of the oils that I take with me everywhere.
Ingredients: Peppermint, Coriander, Ginger, Caraway, Cardamom, Fennel, and Anise essential oils
Peppermint
Peppermint essential oil is great for digestive health when taken internally. As you see above the DigestZen blend contains peppermint oil. You can add 1-2 drops to a veggie capsule to take it internally or just place a drop under your tongue. It can also be added to hot tea.
Peppermint Softgels
These are great for providing digestive relief to the lower intestines. The enteric coating of the softgel is what allows the Peppermint oil to reach the lower intestines. These softgels can be used to occasionally soothe gas and bloating.
Tamer
This digestive blend was made for kids but can be used by anyone. It offers a calming aroma that may ease the effects of motion sickness and can be rolled on the stomach to soothe abdominal aches. This has a different aroma than the DigestZen, so it might be a good option if you do not like the aroma of the DigestZen.
TerraZyme
This is a Digestive Enzyme Complex which uses a proprietary blend of active whole-food enzymes and supporting cofactors that are often deficient in cooked, processed, and preservative heavy foods. Terrazyme is a digestive enzyme. Digestive enzymes are necessary for digesting food nutrients and then converting the nutrients to energy in cells. Enzymes also help with tissue growth and repair. Once we hit the age of 30 our natural enzymes start to decrease so we really need a supplement to help keep us strong and healthy. This is a supplement you will want to take daily to help your body can function optimally. I find it funny when a group of us doTERRA leaders go out to lunch and we all pull out our TerraZyme to take with our meal.
DigestZen Softgels
These are pre-filled veggie capsules with the 120 mg of DigestZen essential oil in them. You can make these yourself or you can purchase these pre-made ones for convenient on the go digestive relief. If you do not like the taste of DigestZen this might be a great option for you.
doTERRA Fiber

I really like the taste of this and will add it to a glass of water or to my protein shakes. It does not contain any sugar; it uses stevia as a sweetener. Obviously, the best way to get fiber in your system is through fruits and vegetables, but this fiber supplement is great to use as a boost or to just ensure you are getting it adequate amount.
